Frederic L. Johnstone, MD, is a well-versed hand and upper extremity orthopedic surgeon who diagnoses and treats patients at Rainier Orthopedic Institute in Puyallup and Bonney Lake, WA. Frederic L. Johnstone, MD, attended Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, TN, and received his medical degree in 1982. After completing his orthopedic surgery residency at Madigan Army Medical Center, he became a flight surgeon and served in Korea and in Desert Storm with the 28th Combat Support Hospital. Dr. Johnstone has served as chief of orthopedics, orthopedic residency director, and chief of surgery at Madigan Army Medical Center. Furthermore, he conducted a fellowship in orthopedic hand surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. In addition, Dr. Johnstone received board certification in orthopedic surgery from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). He remains in good standing with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the ANA, and the WAOA. Dr. Johnstone dedicates his spare time to cycling, gardening, model railroading, and landscaping.
